THIS WORLD had clairvoyant residents who knew more than others - mystics. They had visions of the future. But a gift of seeing comes with traits of curiosity. These mystics saw what could be done with elements. They were intrigued by the elemental powers and dreamt of holding the force in their fingers.
Their visions revealed meteor showers that would hit the moons. When the time came, they were ready to search for the fallen moon pieces. They examined the force of elements in their own hidden locations.
As owning elements was forbidden from anyone but official priests, yet along experimenting with them, the clairvoyants kept their practices concealed. Experimenting wasn’t easy, and often resulted in deadly explosions.
To avoid repeating same dire experiments, the curious mystics formed a secret alliance. They wrote down their findings in scrolls and books that were shared only inside the alliance.
The elements influenced the mystics more than they understood. Their bone structure, blood flow and appearance changed. The mystics were more reactive to energies around them: if they got close to elements in their natural form, the elements would get out of control. Fire would explode, a tiny leaf would burst into a tree, dead bones would begin to shake, liquids would freeze. The energy of chaos was too strong and uncontained, as the mystics now radiated the energies they had absorbed.
They left the stones and fled, and lived as far from the moons they could, hoping their energy would calm down. They raised their family far from society and avoided contact with citizens. They covered themselves in capes that would hide their distorted features as they lived as an outcast. Some of them lived together seeking comfort of each other. Some of them were lucky to to meet fairies in the woods and have a family with them.
As they had children, they noticed their children weren’t normal either. They also had the effects of elements present in them.
